Cartões SIM dos EUA Ativados: O Que Muda Antes do Envio | MollySIM
If you are looking for an activated SIM card before shipping, check what you are buying before choosing a plan. MollySIM activates every card for the customer before dispatch. Your purchase therefore includes a live US line, with consequences for the plan period and your ability to change your mind.
The practical questions are straightforward: when does service start, which settings still need your attention, and is a US SIM card refundable? Answering those before ordering helps you choose a card you can actually use where you live.
Why the US prepaid card is activated in advance
You cannot self-activate a US prepaid line from outside the US. MollySIM handles activation before shipping so your card arrives working, with a native US phone number already assigned. Activation is part of preparing your order, rather than a task waiting for you after delivery.
An activated line still needs the correct phone settings for use abroad. Receiving a card with an assigned number does not mean it has cellular roaming in your country. Whether you need Wi-Fi Calling depends on the plan, as explained below.
Every physical card can also be delivered as an eSIM: write eSIM in the order note to receive the activation QR code by email. Choose the delivery format when ordering; the product is still activated for you.

Your number is bound to you
The number is bound to you at purchase. You are buying a line prepared for your use, so choose its plan with your intended calls and messages in mind. A number for occasional bank codes and a number for frequent conversations may need different allowances.
The plan period is already running
The plan period is running before the card reaches you. Do not assume that putting the card into your phone starts a fresh plan period. When choosing when to order, account for the fact that activation happens before shipping.
Lyca Mobile US allowances cover a 30-day plan period. Keep the plan period separate from the life of the number: an expired plan and an expired number are different situations.
The card is no longer resellable
Once activated for you, the card is no longer resellable. That is why activated cards have no change-of-mind refunds. Deciding that you wanted another tier or no longer need the number does not undo the activation.
If you are checking the prepaid US SIM refund policy, distinguish a change of mind from something wrong with the card. Support reviews problems individually. The review is a human assessment, and we will not promise an outcome in advance.
What activation does not change
You still choose the plan when ordering. Pre-activation does not mean MollySIM chooses how many minutes or messages you need. Compare the T-Mobile plans and Lyca Mobile US plans before committing to an allowance.
You still control Wi-Fi Calling and roaming settings on your phone. Activation does not remove the need to check those settings, especially when you use the US number abroad.
You still get the full allowance for the plan period you purchase. That allowance belongs to the running plan period; it does not mean a fresh period starts on delivery. It also remains subject to the plan's usage conditions. For example, US data in a plan is not automatically a cellular data allowance abroad.
For T-Mobile, every plan except $15/mo has no cellular voice or SMS roaming outside the US. Calls and SMS work through Wi-Fi Calling on Wi-Fi, and only with US numbers. You can call and receive calls from US numbers and receive US SMS, including bank codes. The $15/mo plan is the only T-Mobile option with cellular roaming: 1GB China roaming and free incoming.
For Lyca Mobile US, using the plan allowance outside the US requires Wi-Fi Calling switched on. The SIM can register on local towers abroad, but tower registration alone does not give you the allowance. Read the Wi-Fi Calling traveller guide alongside your arrival checks.
Check on arrival
Work through these checks with your order details beside you:
- Check that the US line is enabled. Find the line in your phone's SIM settings and confirm you have enabled it. If you use more than one line, identify the US line before changing its settings.
- Keep roaming off for the initial Wi-Fi Calling check. Test the connection your plan needs abroad. If you selected T-Mobile $15/mo for China roaming, review that plan's included roaming separately.
- Switch Wi-Fi Calling on. Connect to Wi-Fi and check the setting for the US line specifically. For the T-Mobile plans without cellular roaming, being connected to a local mobile network is not the route for calls or SMS.
- Check the E911 address. Review the E911 address in the Wi-Fi Calling setup. If you are unsure what to enter or cannot complete that step, ask support for help with your setup.
- Check your default SMS line. On a phone with multiple lines, review which line is selected for outgoing SMS. Also check that the account you are testing has your assigned US number.
- Test a code. Request a verification code from an account you intend to use with the number. Note whether it arrives with Wi-Fi Calling enabled. The US number for bank verification guide covers that use case.
If something is wrong, contact support
Explain what you expected and what happened. Include the plan you ordered, whether you are outside the US, which arrival checks you completed, and any error text you see. Describe a missing SMS separately from a failed call so the person reviewing your case can understand the problem.
MollySIM support reviews card problems individually, with a human looking at the circumstances. We will not promise a specific refund or any other outcome in advance. Reporting a problem starts that review; it is not a guarantee of a particular resolution.
Avoid the common buying mistakes
Choosing a tier without checking its allowance
Read both the allowance and the MollySIM retail price. The plan label is not the price you pay MollySIM for the card. T-Mobile $3/mo includes 30 minutes and 30 SMS and has a MollySIM retail price of $64.99. T-Mobile $10/mo includes unlimited US calls and SMS and has a MollySIM retail price of $23.99.
Choose around your expected use and where you will use it. Unlimited US calls do not remove the Wi-Fi Calling requirement abroad for the T-Mobile $10/mo plan.
Expecting local calls abroad
For T-Mobile plans other than $15/mo, Wi-Fi Calling abroad works only with US numbers. Do not buy one expecting it to call local numbers in the country you are visiting.
Lyca Mobile US $15 includes unlimited international calls to 80+ destinations, but Lyca's published terms limit these to the first 10 dialled numbers per country, with exclusions. Check the destination conditions before choosing it for international calls.
If your main need is travel data, start with data-only versus voice and SMS and how much data you need for a week. For Hong Kong use, compare the allowances on Three Hong Kong and CSL Hong Kong before deciding you need a US line.
Letting the Lyca line go unused
Lyca's published terms state that the SIM and its assigned number expire after 60 consecutive days of non-use. Plan expiry alone does not cancel the number, and a top-up restores service. Do not confuse those rules or assume you can recover an expired number simply by adding credit. Use the guide to keeping your US number alive when planning ongoing use.
FAQ
Is a US SIM card refundable if I change my mind?
MollySIM's activated cards have no change-of-mind refunds. A problem with the card is reviewed individually by support, without a promised outcome.
Does delivery start my plan period?
No. The plan period is already running because activation happens before shipping. Do not treat delivery as the beginning of a fresh allowance period.
Can I choose the plan myself?
Yes. You choose the plan when ordering. Compare its allowance, MollySIM retail price and conditions for use abroad before purchase.
Why does my Lyca SIM show a local network but not work as expected?
Registering on a local tower abroad does not itself provide the plan allowance. Outside the US, the allowance requires Wi-Fi Calling switched on.
Does an expired Lyca plan immediately cancel my number?
No. Plan expiry alone does not cancel it, and a top-up restores service. Separately, the SIM and number expire after 60 consecutive days of non-use under Lyca's published terms.
Before ordering, match the allowance to your use and check how the line works in your destination. When it arrives, complete the checklist and test the number with the accounts you need. If a check fails, give support the details for an individual review.
